The Jazz workshop took place at Sunway University and ASWARA for 3 days. I had the privilege to watch Grammy- nominated, Dr. Jene Atkins conduct a big band and I had the chance to perform alongside Malaysia's renowned drummer, Lewis Pragasam as well as Malaysia's Jazz pianist David Gomes.

The first day of the workshop consist of us visiting ASWARA. We got to watch the students perform in their showcase and the rehearsals for the big band went on after that. On the second day, we were divided into our own departments to have our own workshops. I had a Jazz Vocal workshop with David Gomes. The song we chose to work with was 'Fly me to the moon' and I had to perform the song on the last day of the workshop. During the vocal workshop, we worked on Jazz style singing like pronunciation and playing around with time/tempo. On the last day of the workshop, we practiced once more and did a soundcheck before the showcase which concluded the 3 day workshop.
